Assassin's Creed Shadows: Kamon Crest Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Kamon Crests in Assassin's Creed Shadows are the 9 clan emblems hidden across Japan — small wooden plaques bearing the family symbols of the Sengoku era's most powerful factions, all buried behind heavy obstacles that only Yasuke can move.

Collecting all 9 completes the "A Collection of Crests" quest for Ota Gyuichi and rewards the Falcon's Eye Legendary Bow. All 9 locations are visible and ready for tracking on Map Master's Assassin's Creed Shadows Japan map.

"A Collection of Crests": Starting the Quest

After unlocking Yasuke by completing "Belly of the Beast" in Act 2, travel to southern Kyoto, Yamashiro, as Yasuke.

Find Ota Gyuichi in the house southeast of Honnoji Temple, northeast of Toji Temple. He was Oda Nobunaga's personal scribe and an old acquaintance of Yasuke's — he needs all nine clan crests to complete his historical accounts of Japan's warring factions.

The quest is not required before collecting. All 9 crests can be gathered before speaking to Ota Gyuichi and will register automatically when the quest is started.

The recommended approach is to sweep the crests at natural exploration pace across Act 2, then return to Ota Gyuichi once all 9 are in Yasuke's possession. The recommended level is 38 — several crest locations are inside Castles and forts with Level 40+ Samurai Daisho guards.

Level 40 is the safer minimum before attempting the highest-guarded locations.

Yasuke-Exclusive: Why Naoe Cannot Help

Every Kamon Crest is blocked by a heavy object — a crate pushed against a door, a shelf wedged in a corridor, or a box sealing an alcove.

These obstacles require Yasuke's samurai strength to move; Naoe lacks the physicality to shift them. Any crest location reached as Naoe will be inaccessible at the final obstacle, requiring a character switch before collecting.

Yasuke's Observation ability (hold the Observation button while on foot) reveals nearby collectibles as white dots through walls and terrain. Using Observation when the map marker is close will pinpoint the exact chest or plaque before Yasuke is adjacent to it — useful in the larger castle environments where the crest's specific building is hard to identify from the exterior.

The visual pattern at every Kamon Crest location is consistent: a banner icon appears on the map nearby, and wooden crates or furniture block the immediate entrance. Spotting both the icon and the obstacle together confirms a crest is inside.

The Nine Clans and Their Crests

The nine crests represent the major power factions of the Sengoku period as they appear in the game's world — all are also documented as Cultural Discovery entries: Oda (Nobunaga's own clan), Hashiba (Toyotomi Hideyoshi's clan before his rise), Akechi (the traitor Mitsuhide), Bessho, Shibata, Niwa, Ikko Ikki (the Buddhist warrior confederation), Tsutsui, and Akiyama.

Reward: Falcon's Eye Legendary Bow

On returning all 9 crests to Ota Gyuichi, the quest completes with 1,000 XP, the Falcon's Eye Legendary Bow (its engraving fires three arrows simultaneously per bowstring pull, consuming 3 arrows per volley — highly effective against grouped enemies), and 9 Clan Banner outdoor cosmetics for the Hideout, one for each clan represented.

Dialogue choices during the handover conversations do not affect the reward or quest outcome.
